USA SURFING CHAMPIONSHIP REGIONAL ORGANIZATION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR 2024

USA Champs are qualifiers for the ISA World Championship team as part of the Pan Am Games qualification track. 
USA Champs is a direct qualifier for the ISA World Championship.
USA Champs is open to U.S. citizens, including dual citizens. Only the PSL Open portion of Para Surf competition is open to international surfers.  ​

*The U18 Championship event at Lowers is full and all spots have been allocated. 
If there are any surfers who have to withdraw, we will reach out to the alternate who is next in line to fill that spot. We will not be taking stand-by alternates on the beach.

Given the growth in our Prime Series and slots extended to the regional organizations, the number of qualified competitors exceeds the time allocation to run in a 5 day schedule. Thanks to our partners at CA State Parks, we were granted an extra half day to our permit to allow for us to invite athletes that meet the qualifying criteria.  Our ability to accommodate alternates is dictated by the qualifying field size of a given division and the number of athletes that accept an invite.

​ALTERNATES IN PRIME EVENTS: Each division has a set alternate list from which openings will be awarded before the event. 
ADDITIONAL ALTERNATES -  Additional alternate spots (due to no-shows, etc) are not awarded on a first come first served basis. Surfers wishing to stand by for an alternate spot must check in at the beach marshal tent to put their name on the list. Spots will be filled from the list based on the surfer’s ranking in their main division (one division down from the division they wish to surf up in).  Alternate list surfers much check in and be ready to paddle out at the 5-minute mark. If the first alternate is not checked in and ready, the spot will be offered to the next ranked surfer who is ready to go. Alternate spots are $150 and can be paid via cash or Venmo to @usasurfing.

Below are the invitees for the 2023 USA Surfing Championships at Lower Trestles. We have invited more competitors than there is space to run in the 45 hours we have on our permit. There are no alternates. There are no standbys. We are counting on a certain number of people to decline their invitation so we can finish the event within our allotted time.
