USA SURFING ANNOUNCES 2026 JUNIOR NATIONAL & DEVELOPMENT TEAMS

USA Surfing Announces 2026 Junior National & Development Teams

San Clemente, Calif. (July 16, 2026) — Today, USA Surfing announces the athletes selected to its 2026 Junior National Team and Development Team, recognizing the nation's most promising U14, U16 and U18 surfers who have demonstrated exceptional performance throughout the qualification season.

The 2026-2027 teams represent the foundation of USA Surfing's High Performance pathway, identifying athletes with the emerging talent, commitment, and the competitive mindset to represent the United States at future ISA World Junior Surfing Championships and beyond. USA Surfing is building toward long-term podium success on the international stage starting with these surfers, while also offering opportunities to compete and qualify to a broader pool of surfers through USA Surfing’s Prime Series.

Surfers earned their positions by achieving top ranking results throughout the multi-stop USA Surfing Prime Series on the East & West coasts and the USA Surfing Junior National Championships at Lower Trestles, the LA28 Olympic venue.

The National Team consists of athletes currently performing at the highest level within their age divisions and positioned to contend for international success in the U16 and U18 ISA World Junior Championships. The Development Team recognizes emerging athletes whose performances indicate significant podium potential and who will receive continued support as they progress through the elite pathway.

Head Junior National Head Team Coach Ryan Simmons said, “Congrats to those who made the Junior National and Development Teams. Making these teams is a testament to the hard work put in, and results they have achieved. Coach Morgan and myself are fired up to get to work and continue the success train we’ve been riding the last few years. 1-2-3 USA”

Junior Assistant Coach Morgan O’Connell who works with USA Surfing Juniors on the East Coast added, “The East Coast team is filled with a strong mix of returning veterans and exciting new faces. Throughout the selection process, they demonstrated an impressive level of consistency and commitment to earn their spot on the Team USA.”
