USA Surfing is stoked to announce Resin Services (“RS” - @rssurfco) as the official performance sponsor of our country's ISA World Junior Surfing Championship team competing against the world’s best in El Salvador May 3-12,2024.
The San Clemente-based surfboard builders donated $18,000 to support the team’s coaching and preparation while in Surf City, El Salvador. The generous donation boosted the team’s fundraising to 60 percent of their goal. “The American team needed financial support and we wanted to make sure our home-grown talent could focus on championship level surfing. We surf with them and glass some of their boards. They deserve a chance to win gold in El Salvador,” said RS' Bennett Sheppard. The family-owned business started in 2017 in San Clemente as a shaping studio hosting local board builders. Sheppard and a group of local shapers and glassers collaborated and started a factory because they know who builds your boards matters. Sheppard said, “Resin Services is proud of the guys at the factory, they are true board builders.” Sheppard and shaper Mark Ellis have been working with USA Surfing ISA World Junior team surfer Quaid Fahrion for the last two years. Fahrion will be surfing in the U16 division for his second time, helping Team USA win the team Silver Medal in 2023. Quaid’s boards are shaped by Ellis and glassed by locals at RS. Sheppard said, “The result is great board designs for Quaid with amazing local craftmanship.” RS also sponsors Costa Mesa’s Zoey Kaina and San Clemente’s Harvey Nelson. “RS loves to sponsor hard-working local kids who can also shred like Quaid, Zoey, and Harvey. Having them come to the factory and be a part of the process is fun.” Sheppard said. Sheppard is stoked on the 2024 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship team and believes in the coaches Ryan Simmons, Courtney Conlogue and Asher Nolan. Head coach Ryan Simmons thanked the Sheppard family and RS for supporting the team. “It means a lot to have such a committed board company supporting the team. The RS crew is immersed in design and innovation, and their support of rising stars including two-time ISA surfer Quaid Fahrion, is a testament to their dedication to the craft. The coaches and surfers are extremely grateful to RS.” Event Schedule: *subject to change at any time at the ISA’s discretion Pre-Competition Friday, May 3rd 4pm - Opening Ceremony / next to Casa de Mar Competition Saturday, May 4th 7am-5pm - Competition @ El Sunzal and La Bocana Finals Day Sunday, May 12th TBD - Finals 30min after competition - Closing Ceremony / behind Casa De Mar Follow the team on USA Surfing’s social media channels.
