USA Surfing Welcomes Courtney Conlogue to ISA World Jr. Championship Travel Team Coaching Staff10/23/2023
USA Surfing is pleased to announce an exciting addition to the @isasurfing ISA World Jr. Surfing Championship Travel Team coaching staff.
Please join us in welcoming Coach Courtney Conlogue. Courtney joins Head Coach Ryan Simmons and Assistant Coach Asher Nolan. Coach Simmo will stay stateside this year while Asher and Courtney co-coach in Brazil. “I’ve been involved with the USA Surf Team since I was 11 years old and had the honor of being coached by Peter ‘PT’ Townend and many other great coaches during my time on the team,” Courtney said. “I now have the amazing opportunity to coach the next generation of athletes. I will share the knowledge gained throughout my career as an athlete on the WSL, during my 12 years on the World Championship Tour. I look forward to empowering this and future generations. I will mentor them, help them accomplish their goals and assist them in showcasing their best surfing at the event and beyond. Over the years there has been so much talent developed on our coastlines. I’m looking forward to being a part of the athletes’ journeys toward tackling goals and going for gold.” This powerhouse trio will host a pre-event training camp in early Nov. to prepare. Coach Simmo is enthusiastic about this year's travel team roster and their prospects in Rio. “This year’s travel team is highly talented, with 3 returning ISA surfers. In every division we’re stacked and could see multiple podium finishes,” Ryan said. “The goal is gold but the experience and lessons are immeasurable. We’ll train right up until they leave for Brazil, solidifying strengths and shoring up any weak link in their repertoires. I’m excited about this team’s prospects in Brasil!” Coach Asher is equally stoked. “I’m looking forward to coaching in Rio! As a returning coach I know how challenging and intense this 10-day competition is,” Asher added. “We have 9 new highly talented surfers joining the travel team. All 12 are ready to put in the work, support each other, give it their best effort and see what can be accomplished. The goal is gold! Let’s go!” The event runs Nov. 24-Dec.3 in Rio de Janeiro. Please keep an eye out for opportunities to support the team’s fundraising efforts. Thank you. Let’s go USA! Comments are closed.
