HURLEY RETURNS AS PRESENTING SPONSOR OF USA SURFING’S CHAMPIONSHIP AT LOWER TRESTLES

For Immediate Release

“Hurley is leading the charge in backing the next generation of American surf talent.”

(San Clemente, Calif.) — USA Surfing is thrilled to announce Hurley’s continued stewardship as presenting sponsor of the organization’s premier under 18 2025 Championship at Lower Trestles.

This year’s events take on historic significance with Lower Trestles officially named as the surfing venue for the LA28 Olympic Games. That means the surfers competing at the 2025 USA Surfing Championships at Lowers could very well be competing for Olympic gold in 2028 and future Olympics and World Surf League events.

“Hurley is proud to support the next generation of top surf talent,” said Hurley’s Head of Sports Marketing Brett Simpson. “As a former WSL tour athlete, USA Surfing junior and Olympic coach, I’ve seen firsthand how pivotal these events are in preparing athletes for the world stage.”

Hurley’s back-to-back presenting sponsorships are a bold and rare commitment at a time when much of the industry has cut youth development budgets.

“We applaud Hurley’s leadership in stepping up where others have stepped back,” said USA Surfing Head Coach Ryan Simmons. “This kind of consistent support helps ensure American surfers remain among the best in the world—particularly at the 2028 Olympic competition venue: Lower Trestles.”

From Caroline Marks, the 2024 Olympic gold medalist and USASurfing Championship title record-holder, to Caity Simmers, a WSL WorldChampion and 2024 Olympian, to Sawyer Lindblad, Bella Kenworthy, Jake Marshall, Griffin and Crosby Colapinto, Cole Houshmand, Lakey Peterson, and more—many of today’s surf greats are USA Surfing alumni who competed at Lowers. The 2025 roster of competitors are tomorrow’s WSL Championship tour surfers and Olympians.

USA Surfing Championships at Lower Trestles

📅 June 22–26, 2025

This national championship brings together the nation’s best under-18 surfers—athletes who earned their spots with top performances on the East Coast, West Coast, and Hawaii. Titles and junior national team spots are on the line at the same break where Olympic dreams will play out in 2028.

“Being the brand that backs youth surfing at such a pivotal moment for the sport is a natural fit for Hurley,” Simpson said. “These events represent the heart of surf culture—talent, passion, grit, and community.”

Hurley has long stood out for making surfing more visible and accessible—promoting surf imagery and apparel in retail spaces across all 50 states. Their investment in para surfing, alongside shortboard and SUP disciplines, underscores a shared commitment to community.

“Hurley and USA Surfing both believe that surfing is for everyone,” said USA Surfing CEO Becky Fleischauer Jewell. “We’re united in our mission to expand access to a sport that builds confidence, resilience, and connection—to the ocean, and to each other.”
