Racers Battle Heavy Surf at 2025 USA Surfing Championship SUP & Prone Finals in Oceanside

Racers Battle Heavy Surf at 2025 USA Surfing Championship SUP & Prone Finals in Oceanside

Oceanside, Calif. (June 18, 2025) – The 2025 USA SurfingChampionship culminated in dramatic fashion today as SUP and Prone race athletes took on a demanding two-part course at Oceanside’s North Jetty, featuring a 10K distance race and a technical showdown through pumping waves — both serving as qualifiers for Team USA’s ISA World Championship roster.

The morning kicked off with a 10K distance race, challenging racers to navigate the open ocean from the North Jetty to the pier and back twice. In the afternoon, competitors braved pumping surf and pounding shorebreak in a technical race, pushing through waves to round buoys and sprint back to the beach — a loop repeated three times. The dynamic course tested ocean awareness, stamina, and skill under pressure, with ISA team spots and national titles on the line.

“This was one of the most intense and challenging race days we've seen,” said USA Surfing CEO Becky Fleischauer. “The conditions made every line choice and every paddle count — and our athletes delivered with incredible performances.”
