Caroline Marks won the 2024 Olympic Women's Surfing Gold Medal in dramatic fashion, clinching the highest score of the final early – a 7.5. The historic Paris 2024 Olympic surfing competition took place at one of the most powerful and dangerous waves in the world – Teahupo’o in French Polynesia’s Tahiti. Caroline pulled into a pristine Teahupo’o barrel, stalled to get covered and came out clean in a Gold Medal final where wave selection and priority played a significant role.
Caroline’s win gives Team USA back-to-back Olympic gold medals after Carissa Moore won the inaugural Olympic women’s surfing gold in Chiba, Japan. Caroline’s Gold was the 21st U.S. medal of the 2024 Paris Games, pushing the U.S. to the top of the medal count. “I’m so honored and so happy, this is just incredible and I’m so emotional," Caroline said. "So happy to do this for my family and everyone back home. Wow, I’m just so happy.” Caroline’s Gold Medal comes on the heels of winning the World Surf League’s world 2024 world title. Caroline qualified for the World Surf League’s Championship Tour when she was just 15 years old and still competing in USA Surfing’s junior Prime Series. Caroline still holds the record for the most USA Surfing Championship wins. USA Olympic coach Shane Dorian declared “She did it! Super proud of you Caroline! You brought the gold home.” Comments are closed.
