Oceanside, Calif. (June 12, 2025) — The 2025 USA Surfing Longboard Championship concluded today at Oceanside’s North Jetty with Kaitlin Mikkelson (Encinitas, Calif.) and Tony Silvagni (Carolina Beach, N.C.) claiming national titles in the prestigious Open Women’s and Open Men’s divisions.
From Makaha to Massachusetts, ages 10 to 50+, age group longboard competitors brought style, grace, and grit to the North Jetty lineup—earning their way onto the USA Surfing Championship podium. See results below.
This year’s finals were held in clean, rising swell with 4–5 foot surf and occasional overhead sets, giving finalists the perfect canvas to showcase classic style and high-performance maneuvers. Fans tuning into the live broadcast were treated to powerful performances, emotional moments, and buzzer-beating comebacks as the nation's best longboarders battled for spots on the world stage.

With their dominant performances, division winners Mikkelson and Silvagni, and second place finishers Malia Ilagan and Kevin Skvarna qualified to represent Team USA at the 2026 ISA WorldLongboard Championship.
For Kaitlin Mikkelson,this win marks her third consecutive USA Surfing Championship victory inOceanside, a rare feat in the longboard division. Her consistent, fluid styleand strategic wave selection solidified her place at the top of American women’s longboarding.
Tony Silvagni impressed judges and fans alike with the highest heat total of the finals (17.23),combining deep nose rides, dynamic footwork, and committed rail work. A longtime standout and global ambassador for traditional longboarding, Silvagni made making Team USA his top priority this season, training relentlessly in the water and refining his mental performance and physical fitness.
“The level of surfing this year was truly world-class,” said USA Surfing Head Coach Ryan Simmons.“Tony and Kaitlin brought power, style, and a champion’s mindset to the finals—this ISA team is going to be frothing for Gold in 2026.”
Team USA brought home silver at the 2025 ISA World Longboard Championship, and with Mikkelson and Silvagni leading the charge, expectations are high for an even stronger showing next year.
