The Finals Day brackets are set for a showdown among the nation's best under 18 surfers in building Lowers swell. After four days of fierce battles between 250 of the nation’s best under 18 surfers at USA Surfing Championship at Lower Trestles – 47 surfers emerged as semifinalists who will compete to become national champions. The young surfers represent a mix of surfers from the East Coast, West Coast and Hawaii.
“We should see the nerves settle in as surfers will be gunning for the title of the best surfer in the nation in their respective divisions,” said Simmons.
USA Surfing Championship presented by Playa Bowls is the season finale of Prime Series events on both coasts, and other qualifiers across the Mainland and Hawaii. The USA Surfing Championship titles earned through the history of the event have gone on to the World Surf League Championship Tour and the Olympic Games. More swell continues to build out of both the south and northwest. Surfers took advantage of the sloping rippable walls.
“Some surfed their way into the semifinals and onto the USA junior team. Power and rail surfing reigned supreme once again in classic Lower conditions as the kids reveled in the hundreds yard long walls,” Coach Simmo said. See semifinal and finals brackets below.
