USA Surfing Announces 2025 ISA World Junior Championship Team

Veteran standouts and rising stars to represent the U.S. on surfing’s global stage

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. — USA Surfing is proud to announce its 2025 International Surfing Association (ISA) World Junior Championship Team — a bi-coastal crew of the nation’s top under-18 surf athletes selected to represent the United States against the world’s best junior surfers.

This year’s team features a powerful combination of seasoned international competitors and fresh, rising talent. Three surfers — Lanea Mons (Jacksonville, FL), Eden Walla (San Clemente, CA), and Will Deane (Nags Head, NC) — are making their third ISA World Junior Championship appearances, bringing unmatched experience and leadership to the squad. Brody Price (Santa Cruz, CA) returns for his second ISA appearance after delivering standout performances in 2024.

“This team is loaded with talent, experience, and heart,” said Head Coach Ryan Simmons. “We’ve got a team of true competitors who love to battle, train hard, and bring out the best in each other. They’re proud to wear the USA jersey, and they’re hungry to make history.”

The 2025 championship season also marks a major milestone — the 10-year anniversary of USA Surfing’s first-ever ISA World Junior Team Gold in 2015, won in Oceanside, Calif. That team was led by Boys U16 gold medalist Stevie Pittman and coached by current Team USA Head Coach Ryan Simmons.

“This anniversary brings extra motivation,” Simmons said. “We’re building on a legacy, and this team has what it takes to honor that history and bring home more gold.”

ISA World Junior Championship events are widely recognized as launching pads for surfing’s top careers, including Olympians and WSL Championship Tour contenders. With the LA28 Olympic surfing competition venue at Lower Trestles, USA Surfing’s development pathway takes on even more importance.

“These young athletes are part of something bigger than themselves,” said USA Surfing CEO Becky Fleischauer. “They are part of a tradition of excellence, and they represent the heart and future of U.S. surfing. We’re so proud of the way they train, compete, and carry themselves on the world stage.”

The ISA World Junior Championship location and dates will be announced by ISA in the next few months. USA Surfing will host training camps and team development events in the lead-up to competition.
