The 2023/2024 Prime season events schedule is posted below. Scroll down to read.
Prime season invitations will begin being sent via email over the weekend of August 18-20. (Apologies for the delays. Other urgent admin matters came up during roster selection. Thanks for your patience.) After emails have been sent, a full roster will be posted below to make sure all email addresses were correct and messages received.
Please remember, while waiting for Prime invitations you are encouraged to enter 2023/2024 regional organization events happening in August and September. This is especially recommended if you are hoping to be invited to Prime for the first time or would like to have a backup qualification method.
Stay tuned for updates.
A MESSAGE ABOUT SURFING UP & TEAM SELECTION
Surfing up a division will begin being phased out this season (2023/2024) and will not be allowed next season (2024/2025). If you earned a spot in a division above your own age group last season (2022/2023), you will be permitted to surf up this season if space is available. But please note: Your performance in the upper division this season will not earn a spot to surf up next season, nor will it count toward Junior Team selection. It may only count toward earning a season title in that division and possibly earning a spot in that division at the USA Surfing Championship. Team spots for 2024/2025 will be awarded to surfers within their own age division only. And as always, Travel Team selections will be made with priority given to surfers with birthdays in the actual U16 and U18 age groups. Updated selection criteria will be posted shortly.
ALTERNATES IN PRIME EVENTS
Each division has a set alternate list from which openings will be awarded before the event.
ADDITIONAL ALTERNATES - Additional alternate spots (due to no-shows, etc) are not awarded on a first come first served basis. Surfers wishing to stand by for an alternate spot must check in at the beach marshal tent to put their name on the list. Spots will be filled from the list based on the surfer’s ranking in their main division (one division down from the division they wish to surf up in). Alternate list surfers much check in and be ready to paddle out at the 5-minute mark. If the first alternate is not checked in and ready, the spot will be offered to the next ranked surfer who is ready to go. Alternate spots are $150 and can be paid via cash or Venmo to @usasurfing.
